Last Sunday, we went to ALandi, Pune. There was no crowd that day, so we could do things clamly.
We went to river Indrayani, big construction has been made around river to facilitate people visiting ALandi.
We were just wondering to and fro on small river bridge.
There were two young boys playing in water, as it looked like.
Later on we realized that they are searching for something.
On closer look, we came to know that they are doing "naNe Mari", as we named that in marathi.
Those people were searching for coins, gold/silver pieces which devotees had devoted in river; using magnets. Not only young boys but elderly people were having long strings with number of magnets tied at the end.
The scene makes me think.
Firstly, I do not understand devoting money to GOD.
Secondly, devoted money in Temple can be used for Temple maintenance, but money put in river ???
It goes out of Currency, manufacturing of it goes waste and nobody can be benefited out of it unless one does "NaNe Mari".
